You may not know when or if you should file a workplace discrimination claim. Here is an example of a scenario in which someone may wish file a workplace discrimination claim under the California Fair Employment and Housing Act (FEHA) or the federal Title VII of the Civil Rights Act (Title VII): Dawn works at a marketing company and she was fired in February. She hears from a fellow female coworker of the company that she was also fired two months after her. Then in July they learn that another female coworker, Claire, was fired from that company as well. Claire looks back and starts to realize that these women who were fired before her did their jobs well. They weren’t fired for their performance. And there are also a lot of men at the marketing company who were less qualified and they still have their jobs. She becomes suspicious. Three qualified female workers were let go and the men remain employed at the company. Claire knows that she had good job performance. She has reviews that prove that fact. This may be a good time to talk to a lawyer about bringing a claim under California’s FEHA or the federal Title VII laws.
